He will discuss the challenges of implementing IP over DWDM, but also the energy and cost saving opportunities of this technology.

nog.fi is a bi-yearly conference dedicated to internet access and hosting providers, taking place in Tampere, Finland. Currently in its fifth edition, the event will feature talks from experts at Flexoptic, Nokia and Netnod. Some of the topics will include practical routing security, data centre automation and Domain Name System (DNS) resolver usage in the EU.

Marcin Bala, CEO of Salumanus, will hold a presentation on developments in IP over DWDM technology and how operators can make the most of this solution. The innovative technology can be used to enlarge network capacity in local, metro and long-haul applications and it allows users to scale up their data needs while keeping monthly operation costs fixed.

“IP over DWDM is currently one of the hottest topics in network optimisation and it helps operators achieve end to end services in the optical domain, without having to convert the signal to the electrical domain,” said Marcin Bala. “At nog.fi, Salumanus will present the latest xWDM systems, which enable the development of IP over DWDM and showcase how this approach simplifies network infrastructure, reduces costs for users and helps them save on power consumption.”

Visitors to the show will be able to try a new transceiver. The latest generation of QSFP-DD-interface DWDM transceivers enable the transmission of data over large distances without the need for transponders. The ‘colour’ transceiver may be inserted into the port of the network device and directly connected to the multiplexer – blurring the line between transport and access systems.

Similarly, Salumanus will display its unique universal optical transceivers and will hold demos for visitors. The transceiver is compatible with all network devices and allows users to cover four different transmission speeds in their networks: 10 GbE, 25 GbE, 9.83 Gbps CRPI and 24.33 Gbps eCRPI, with a transmission range of 80 km for 10G and 10 km for 25G.

You can meet Salumanus at nog.fi on June 22 at Original Sokos Hotel Ilves in Tampere, Finland.
